Franklin Pierce 10th at WNEC Invitational

Smith, Hodgman pace Ravens with 82's

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.  (October 10, 2003) - The Franklin Pierce men's golf team placed 10th out of 15 teams at the Western New England College Invitational held at the Veterans Golf Course on Thursday.

The Ravens posted a 336 team score at the single-day event. Husson College took the team title with a 297 team score, just seven strokes ahead of second-place New York University and Amherst College who each posted 304 team scores.

Seniors Alex Hodgman (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and Mike Smith (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) each paced the Ravens with identical rounds of 82 on the par-72 layout to tie for 33rd overall. Classmate Paul Izzi (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) finished just one stroke behind the duo with an 83. 

Franklin Pierce returns to the links on Tuesday, October 14, when it hosts the Franklin Pierce Invitational at The Shattuck in Jaffrey at noon.
