Franklin Pierce Takes 14th at Lou Flumere Invitational

Hodgman paces Ravens with 82

STOW, Mass. (May 1, 2003) - The Franklin Pierce men's golf team rounded out its spring schedule as it placed 14th out of 18 teams at the Lou Flumere Invitational, hosted by Bentley College at Stow Acres Country Club. Franklin Pierce posted a 348-team score, which was good for fourth among the six NCAA Division II schools that participated at the event. Williams College took the team title with a 312 score. Southern New Hampshire University paced the Division II's with a 325.

Junior Alex Hodgman (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) paced the Ravens with a round of 82, posting identical rounds of 41 on the front and back nines, which tied for 30th overall. He finished just six strokes off the pace set by co-medalists Andrew Klein of Harvard and Babson's Fabio Silvagni.

Classmate Paul Izzi (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) registered an 87, while Mike Smith (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) carded an 89. Sophomore Nick Matulonis (Springfield, Vt./Springfield) and freshman Dan McLaughlin (Medford, Mass./Minuteman) rounded out the Franklin Pierce team with rounds of 90 and 91, respectively.
