Continues To Impress
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Defending individual champion Sean Harbour fired an even-par 71 and two day 109 total to capture medalist honors and lead Bryant College to its 17th Northeast-10 Men's Golf Championship in the 20th year of the event. The championship, held at Drumlins Golf Course, was shortened to 27 holes because of inclement weather on Saturday.
Harbour's one-over par 109 edged out teammates Jason Malcolm and Dan Harris for the top individual spot. Malcolm and Harris finished in a tie for second place with matching five-over par 113 scores.
The top three golfers combined with ninth place finisher Dave Russell (119) helped the Bulldogs combine for a 454 (154-300) and run away with a 19-stroke win. The host school, Le Moyne College, finished in second place with a 473. Junior Neil Reidy led the Dolphins with a fifth place individual finish. He rebounded from a five-over 42 on Saturday to card the second-best score on Sunday, a three-over 74.
For earning medalist honors, Harbour was named Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Harris, the top freshman, was named Freshman of the Year. The top five finishers were named First Team all-Northeast-10, while those finishing in spots six through ten were named to the second team.
Franklin Pierce's John Learson (Chelmsford, Mass.) continued to impress, as he finished in eighth position with a two-day total of 118, nine strokes off the pace. Learson, who became the first Raven golfer to win the Franklin Pierce Invitational when he did it two weeks ago, is now averaging 78.75 strokes per course.
