Corsairs Top Eight-Team Field in Rain-Shortened Event
JAFFREY, N.H. (Oct. Sept. 18, 2000) - Mix in a driving rain, a bitter cold and an unforgiving course and what have you got?
The 2000 Franklin Pierce Invitational Golf Tournament.
The tournament - the second hosted by Franklin Pierce this year - was pared down to a nine-hole event Wednesday when the eight-team field unable to play a full round on the challenging par-71 Shattuck Golf Course because of the rain.
UMass Dartmouth won the tournament with a four-man score of 22-over par. Joey Lopes of the Corsairs was medalist at 2-over.
Western New England College (+24),
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (+29), FP
(+40) and Bentley (+40) rounded out the top five .
