Men’s Basketball Comes Up Short at Saint Michael’s

COLCHESTER, Vt. (1/11/25) – The Franklin Pierce men's basketball team faced Saint Michael's College in a Northeast-10 matchup on Saturday, where the Ravens couldn't overcome the Purple Knights, falling 82-60.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Michael's opened the game strong with a quick 7-2 lead, with the Ravens' first basket coming from Pierce Prendergast (Bayport, N.Y.) on a jump shot.
- Nathaniel Smith (Toronto, Ontario) banked in a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 7-5, and Prendergast followed with two free throws to tie the game at 7-7.
- Saeer Miller (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored his first points to bring the Ravens within one at 19-20, while Donte Pope's (Middletown, Conn.) driving layup gave Franklin Pierce a brief 23-22 lead before Saint Michael's immediately responded.
- With 1:43 left in the half, another basket by Pope kept the Ravens close at 27-26, but Saint Michael's closed out the half with a small surge to lead 31-26 at the break.
- Early in the second half, Prendergast drained a three-pointer to cut the Purple Knights' lead in half.
- Despite efforts to close the gap, Saint Michael's steadily extended their advantage midway through the half and maintained control over the game.
- Demariontay Hall (Atlanta,Ga.) provided a spark for the Ravens with multiple baskets in the paint, but the Purple Knights' relentless scoring kept them firmly in the lead.
- A flurry of three-pointers by Saint Michael's in the closing minutes widened the gap to 81-58 with under three minutes remaining, sealing the Ravens' fate in the contest.
