RINDGE, N.H. (February 3, 2021) – With the program’s long-awaited second season at the NCAA Division II level slated to commence in the fall, head coach Russell Gaskamp and the Franklin Pierce University football team are proud to announce their 2021 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon. The class consists of 11 student-athletes from six states. A full list of commitments can be found below, and a link to video featuring comments from the recruits and the coaching staff is at the top of this article.

“What a great day for our Raven football family,” said Gaskamp. “With the smaller class this year we were able to be extremely selective with the type of player we were recruiting. We addressed direct needs for our football team; we added not only great football players, but guys who will be great additions to the Franklin Pierce community.”

The bulk of the recruiting class will not be traveling far to get to the Granite State, as nine of the 11 commits hail from New England, New York or New Jersey, including three each from both Massachusetts and New Jersey. The Ravens also added a recruit apiece from traditional football hotbed states Florida and Texas.

The 2021 class will join the 2019 and 2020 recruiting classes in Rindge, as Gaskamp continues to build his program through its initial years by adding both talent and depth. While the full 2021 schedule is not yet finalized at this time, the Ravens are slated to host American International, Assumption, Southern Connecticut State and New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference play in the fall, as the league elected to push the schedule from the canceled 2020 campaign back to 2021.

“We were able to accomplish two goals with this class: we greatly improved the disruptive nature of our defensive front seven and we added much-needed speed to the perimeter of our offense,” added Gaskamp. “The first two classes our staff has put together have built an incredibly strong foundation for our future. They are on campus now and working extremely hard to be ready to compete at a high level in the fall of 2021. This third class gives us a chance to compete for an NE10 championship in the near future.”

A full list of committed student-athletes follows, broken down by home state, with their high school in parentheses. For bio info on the signees, please see our Signing Day Central 2021 page at: https://www.fpuravens.com/sports/fball/2020-21/SigningDay2021/SD-Central
