Ravens Go Winless at Jefferson, Falling in Both Games on Sunday

Philadelphia, Penn. (3/9/25) - The Ravens were not feeling the brotherly love in Philadelphia, as they dropped both games in their doubleheader against the Jefferson Rams on Sunday.

Game 1:
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ravens opened the scoring in the top of the second, as senior infielder Anthony Marcano (Boston, MA) crushed a solo home run to put the Ravens up 1-0.
- In the third, the Rams tied the game on an unearned run scored by Justin Egner, followed by a lead-taking three-run bomb off the bat of Thomas Mastuszewski to put the Rams ahead 4-1.
- In the fourth, the home run parade continued as Kyle Kozlowski went deep to left field to extend the Rams lead to four.
- The Ravens answered in the sixth with an RBI double off the bat of junior infielder Nolan DeAndrade (Bridgewater, MA), scoring senior infielder Kiobel Lugo (Boston, MA), making it 5-2 Rams.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Thomas Mastuszewski gave back his team's four-run lead by scoring on a passed ball, making it 6-2 Rams.
- Nolan DeAndrade was not done yet, however, crushing a grand slam to left field, scoring Kiobel Lugo, junior infielder Ivan Arias (Boston, MA) and redshirt sophomore catcher Brycen Tetler (Plymouth, MA), tying the game 6-6.
- The Ravens then took the lead in the eighth off a sacrifice fly by junior infielder Thomas Dillon (Sudbury, MA), scoring redshirt junior outfielder Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, NY), giving the Ravens the 7-6 lead.
- Luis Beato Mora then tied the game in the bottom of the eighth for the Rams, scoring on a passed ball.
- The Ravens reclaimed the lead off a 2-run jack by Shane Hewlette, making it 9-7.
- The Ravens were unable to hang on to the lead, however, as Javon Hernandez hit a 2-RBI single to center, tying the game 9-9, and later scoring the game winning run off a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, sealing a 10-9 win for the Rams.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
- The Ravens offense showed up big, getting 10 hits in the game compared to the Rams' 9.
- The Ravens did struggle defensively, however, making 4 errors to the Rams' 1.
- Junior right-hander Drew Delucia (Medway, MA) got the start on the rubber, pitching 7 innings, striking out 9 batters, giving up 7 runs, and 2 homers.
- Tyler Behm got the start for the Rams, punching out 9 batters and giving up 2 runs in 5 innings.
Game 2:
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rams struck first in the bottom of the first off, a sacrifice fly to right by Joshua Lopez, making it 1-0 Jefferson.
- Anthony Marcano answered with a game-tying dinger to left field in the top of the second. The Ravens then continued with an RBI double by senior outfielder Elias Meredith (Philadelphia, PA), scoring Thomas Dillon. Meredith would later score off a failed pickoff attempt at second base and then a throwing error by the catcher to make it 3-1 Ravens.
- The Rams were quick to tie the game in the bottom of the second. Jordan Tiburico cut the Ravens' lead to one with an RBI bunt single. Justin Egner then hit an RBI single to left to tie the game 3-3.
- The Ravens then broke the tie in the top of the fourth thanks to a 2-run shot from Ivan Arias, scoring Thomas Dillon, making it 5-3 Ravens.
- The Rams then scored four straight runs to take back the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Justin Egner hit an RBI bunt single to put the Rams back within one. Then, off a throwing error, Justin Egner and Lou Spadafora scored. Javon Hernandez then grounded out to short, scoring Jay Kalieta, making it 7-5 Rams.
- The Rams extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a sacrifice fly to right by Joshua Lopez, scoring Jay Kalieta, making it 8-5 Rams.
- The Ravens would have their best inning in the top of the seventh. Thomas Dillon hit an RBI single down the left field line to score Nolan DeAndrade. Ivan Arias then doubled to center scoring Thomas Dillon, Anthony Marcano, and junior outfielder Joey Acker (Upton, MA). Then, Elias Meredith doubled to center to score Ivan Arias, making it 10-8 Ravens.
- The Rams quickly tied the game again in the bottom of the seventh. Kyle Kozlowski grounded out to second, scoring Thomas Mastuszewski. Gabe Silva then scored on a passed ball, making it 10-10 in the eighth.
- The game would end in the eighth inning with a walk-off single by Kyle Kozlowski, scoring Joshua Lopez and securing the 11-10 win and the four-game series sweep over the Ravens.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
- This time the Rams outhit the Ravens, knocking 12 of them compared to the Ravens' 9.
- The Ravens defense struggled again in game two, committing 4 errors to the Rams' 2.
- Senior righty Esteban Rivera III (Hamden, CT) started the game for the Ravens. He went 4 innings, giving up 7 runs, 3 earned, 3 walks, while recording 3 punchouts.
- Kevin Baez started for the Rams, pitching 5 innings, giving up 5 runs, 3 walks, and recording 4 strikeouts.
