Ravens Bats Explode Against Post, Leads to Dominant 10-3 Victory

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (2/20/25) – The Franklin Pierce Ravens baseball team used 4 runs in the 1st inning to power them to a dominant 10-3 win over the Post Eagles in non-conference play on Thursday afternoon, extending their win streak to 2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Redshirt junior Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) struck first for the Ravens in the top of the 1st inning with a single to left field, scoring sophomore outfielder Jayden Villanueva (Lowell, Mass.) to take a 1-0 lead. Then, senior third baseman Anthony Marcano (Boston, Mass.) roped a double to center field to score Shane Hewlette and make it 2-0 Ravens. The hot start continued for the Ravens as junior first baseman Nolan DeAndrade (Bridgewater, Mass.) smoked a triple to center field to score Anthony Marcano and extend the lead to 3-0. The Ravens ended the inning with another run as junior designated hitter Joey Acker (Upton, Mass.) grounded out to the shortstop to score Nolan DeAndrade and give the Ravens the 4-0 lead.
- The hot start continued for Nolan DeAndrade in the top of the 4th inning when he ripped a solo homer to left field to put the Ravens up 5-0.
- The Eagles started to cut into the deficit in the bottom of the 4th inning. They scored 2 runs on ground outs to cut the Ravens lead to 5-2.
- The Ravens responded in the top of the 6th inning with another run. It started with senior second baseman Kiobel Lugo (Boston, Mass.) reaching first on an error by the Eagles third baseman. Then, Anthony Marcano walked and Kiobel Lugo advanced to second. Joey Acker reached on a fielder's choice and Lugo moved to third. After a failed pickoff attempt with Acker on first, Lugo scored to make it 6-2 Ravens.
- Joey Acker added another RBI in the top of the 8th inning as he rifled a single to left field to score Anthony Marcano and put the Ravens up 7-2.
- The Eagles got a run back in the bottom of the 8th with a ground out to cut it to 7-3 Ravens.
- Nolan DeAndrade capped off a phenomenal performance by clobbering a 3-run homer to left field to score Anthony Marcano and Kiobel Lugo. His 5 RBI day powered the Ravens to the 10-3 victory over the Eagles.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

- The Eagles committed 3 errors compared to none from the Ravens.
- Sophomore pitcher Niklas Pavia (Bolton, Mass.) was stellar on the mound in his start for the Ravens. He pitched 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs, walking 2 batters, and striking out 8 batters. He earned his first win of the season.
