RINDGE, N.H. (May 29, 2021) -- Junior Dakota Mulcay hit two home runs, making it three in two days at Pappas Field for the mammoth designated hitter, as top seed and No. 14/22 nationally ranked Southern New Hampshire posted a 9-3 win over third-seeded Molloy in a semifinal game at the NCAA Championship East Regional, hosted by Franklin Pierce. Graduate student right-hander Wesley Tobin, no small gentleman himself, struck out 10 over the course of a seven-hit complete game in the victory for the Penmen.

With the win, SNHU improves to 27-6 and will play for the East Region title beginning Sunday at 4 p.m. The Penmen will face the winner of an elimination game at noon Sunday. The winner of said game would have to defeat SNHU on Saturday and again on Sunday to claim the trophy.

The Penmen took the drama out of things early, with three in the top of the first, one each in the second and third, and three more in the fourth to build an early 8-1 lead. Mulcay hit a pair of homers to nearly identical spots 350 feet away in right field. He thumped a towering solo shot in the third, and added a two-run blast in the fourth.

Meanwhile, Tobin (4-1) was busy taking care of Molloy on 135 pitches (89 strikes). He allowed three runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out 10. It was his fourth double-digit strikeout performance of the season.

Graduate student left-hander Joseph Murphy (2-3) took the ball for Molloy, but did not fare as well. He was gone after 2.2 innings and 72 pitches (37 strikes), with a line of five runs (four earned) on five hits, five walks and three strikeouts.
