Franklin Pierce Volleyball and Football Teams Host “Be The Match" Event

Rindge, N.H. (3/14/22) - Last week, the Franklin Pierce Volleyball and Football programs joined forces to host a registration event for "Be the Match" on Monday, 3/7/22 at the Franklin Pierce University Campus Center.

"Be the Match" is an organization designated to finding bone marrow matches for people diagnosed every year with life-threatening blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma, who are seeking a transplant. The process of registration and testing is simple, and has proven to be a huge factor in saving lives across the map.

For Franklin Pierce, this was the 5th marrow drive that was hosted by Volleyball here on campus, and the second that featured Franklin Pierce Football as a co-host.  Every year, the event has drawn consistent interest from the campus community, with this year's turnout bringing in a uniquely large amount of new registrations, with nearly 200 new individuals joining the movement.

Additionally, in previous years, the event has seen success with finding matches. Eddie Noonan, a Men's Lacrosse member and recent hall-of-fame inductee, registered through one of the previous drives and found himself becoming a perfect match for someone looking for a transplant.
