Franklin Pierce Athletics Announces 2021 Hall of Fame Class

2021 Hall of Fame class

RINDGE, N.H. (September 1, 2021) -- The Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics is proud to announce its 2021 Hall of Fame class, made up of a pair of multiple-time All-Conference selections. The 2021 class will join the previously-announced 2020 Hall of Fame class (link) for a joint induction weekend, to be held on Oct. 1-2. The formal induction will take place at a private social on Friday night, Oct. 1. The two classes will then be honored publicly on Saturday, in conjunction with the Oct. 2 football game against Assumption.

The 2021 Hall of Fame class consists of volleyball four-time All-Northeast-10 Conference pick Nicole Buchholz ’09 and three-time All-New England Collegiate Conference women’s basketball standout Vicki Carlisle ’93.

Buchholz has an argument as the most-decorated player in the history of Franklin Pierce’s volleyball program. She was a four-time All-NE10 honoree, which included Third Team accolades in her freshman campaign, followed by three straight selections to the Second Team. At her best as a junior in 2007, Buchholz led the NE10 in blocks (159) and paced the Ravens in kills (334) on her way to earning All-East Region Second Team plaudits from Daktronics. More than a decade after graduating, she still stands as the program’s all-time leader in both kills (1271) and blocks (493), and is one of just two players in program annals to record 1000 kills and 200 blocks in her career, the other being Mandy Johnson. Buchholz is also sixth all-time in program history in attack percentage (.263).

For her part, Carlisle stands out among a strong history of women’s basketball success at Franklin Pierce, as someone who contributed greatly to the program’s initial wave of success at the NCAA level. Beginning with her sophomore season, she was selected to the All-NECC Second Team for three straight campaigns and helped guide the team to the NECC title in her junior campaign of 1991-92. The end of Carlisle’s junior season also marked the program’s first-ever NCAA Championship berth, a feat which the squad repeated in her senior year as well. A member of the 1000-point club, Carlisle still ranks among the top-20 in program history with 1231 career points, and narrowly missed 1000 rebounds as well, as she finished with 926. Her rebound total is good for sixth in program annals, while her 228 blocks ranks third.

In all, the joint, five-member class of 2020 and 2021, will bring the total number of Franklin Pierce Hall of Fame inductees to 119.
