Franklin Pierce Athletics Announces 2020 Hall of Fame Class

2020 Hall of Fame class

RINDGE, N.H. (June 16, 2021) -- Selected last summer, but delayed by the pandemic, the Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics is pleased to finally announce its 2020 Hall of Fame class, which features three inductees, including a pair of former All-Americans. The 2020 class will join the 2021 Hall of Fame class, to be selected this summer, for a joint induction weekend, to be held on Oct. 1-2. The formal induction will take place at a private social on Friday night, Oct. 1. The two classes will then be honored publicly on Saturday, in conjunction with the Oct. 2 football game against Assumption.

The 2020 Hall of Fame class consists of women’s soccer four-time All-American Gabriela Demoner ’10, men’s basketball All-America and All-Region selection Ben Mitchell ’98, and four-time All-New England men’s lacrosse pick Eddie Noonan ’15.

Demoner is arguably the headliner of an accomplished Hall of Fame class. The Brazilian was a four-time All-American for the Ravens, including a trio of First Team selections. She was also a two-time pick as East Region Player of the Year and a four-time All-Region selection, which included three All-East First Team nods. Demoner was an All-Northeast-10 Conference First Team pick in each of her four seasons at Franklin Pierce, and earned NE10 Player of the Year honors in her sophomore and senior campaigns. She ranks third in the history of Franklin Pierce’s storied women’s soccer program, with 207 career points (82-43-207).

Mitchell is a former All-American as well, as he was honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches for the 1995-96 season, when he earned All-East Region First Team honors as well. The Ravens were members of the New England Collegiate Conference at the time, and Mitchell was a two-time All-NECC selection, including First Team honors in 1996-97. He helped lead the team to NECC titles in both 1996 and 1998, as well as an NCAA Championship berth in 1996. Mitchell is still the program’s all-time leader in field goals made (706), is third in points (1817) and is 15th in rebounds (620).

Noonan is, thus far, the finest player in the history of Franklin Pierce’s men’s lacrosse program. He is the program’s all-time leader in points (155), goals (104) and assists (51), and also set program single-season marks in all three categories when he went for 40-19-59 as a senior in 2015. The senior campaign earned him All-NE10 Second Team honors, as he helped steer the team to its first-ever postseason appearance and a win over Assumption in the quarterfinal round of the NE10 Championship. Noonan was a four-time All-New England pick by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, including a pair of First Team selections.

The trio, along with the to-be-announced 2021 class, will join 114 inductees already enshrined in the Franklin Pierce Hall of Fame.
