222 Student-Athletes Earn GPAs of 3.3 or Higher During Spring Semester to be Named to Athletic Department Honor Roll

RINDGE, N.H. (May 24, 2017) – A total of 222 student-athletes in the Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics have been named to the 2018 spring semester edition of the Athletic Department Honor Roll, as announced Thursday. In addition, 33 student-athletes garnered perfect, 4.0 grade-point averages. In all, 21 of the University’s 26 varsity squads eclipsed the 3.0 mark, and the Department’s student-athletes combined to post a 3.18 cumulative GPA for the semester.

To earn selection to the Athletic Department Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a grade-point average of 3.30 or better during a given semester. The award’s criteria are in line with various Northeast-10 Conference and national academic awards programs.

The 33 student-athletes who earned perfect 4.0 GPAs in the spring represented 18 different programs: men’s basketball’s Mike McDevitt; men’s track & field’s Pete Murray; men’s golf’s Tom Arisco; men’s ice hockey’s Travis Geraci, Jonathan Haun and Shepheard Stahel; men’s lacrosse’s Hunter Francoeur, Benjamin Lassow, Gabriel Luciani and Grant Mello; men’s soccer’s Yannik Felber; football’s Nick Wood; women’s basketball’s Hannah Everidge, Kelsey Mayo and Jemma Thacker; rowing’s Marykate Cullinane and Kyra Fairley; women’s cross country’s Marisa Carbone and Rebecca Zylak; women’s track & field’s Eileen Savinelli and Hannah Shawver; field hockey’s Hannah Gouldrup and Lauren Grimard; women’s ice hockey’s Marissa Massaro and Katie Neuburger; women’s lacrosse’s Maddie Hasson and Megan Schaefer; women’s soccer’s Aimee Malboeuf, Viridiana Vazquez Kloss and Kiley Vermette; softball’s Jill Ostrander; women’s tennis’ Sonia Rodrigues; and volleyball’s Hannah St. Jean.

Men’s tennis posted the Department’s highest team GPA for the second straight semester, at 3.64, while women’s soccer had the highest GPA among women’s teams -- and second-highest overall, also for the second straight semester -- at 3.61. Women’s cross country/track & field (3.48), softball (3.45), women’s golf (3.41), rowing (3.39), women’s lacrosse (3.38) and men’s soccer (3.36) all met or exceeded GPAs of 3.30 at the team level.
