Franklin Pierce Finishes Eighth in Northeast-10 Presidents’ Cup

Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup

RINDGE, N.H. (June 7, 2016) – Franklin Pierce University has finished eighth in the 2015-16 Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup, as announced Monday night by the Conference office at the league's year-end banquet. The Ravens are down three spots from last year's best-ever fifth-place finish, but also finished just 7.5 points behind sixth-place Assumption.

The Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the Northeast-10. The honor is awarded to the institution which compiles the most cumulative points, based on finishes in the regular-season standings, from all of its programs.

Franklin Pierce compiled 140 points in this year's edition of the Presidents' Cup, which was just four fewer points than a year ago, even though the crimson and grey would finish three spots lower than 2014-15. The Ravens were 54 points behind Adelphi, which claimed its third title in the last four years, as well as its third overall. The Panthers claimed the Cup by an 18-point margin over second-place Bentley (176 points). Rounding out the top five behind the Falcons were Stonehill (173) in third, Merrimack (170.5) in fourth and Southern New Hampshire (160) in fifth. Directly in front of the Ravens were Assumption (147.5) in sixth and Le Moyne (141) in seventh.

Franklin Pierce's biggest contributor was its baseball program, which earned 16 points by capturing its fifth straight Northeast Division title. Three other programs earned double-digit points for the Ravens: volleyball, which collected 14 by finishing second; men's cross country, which garnered 13 by placing third at the Northeast-10 Championship; and women's basketball, which earned 11 points with a fourth-place finish in the Northeast Division.
