Franklin Pierce Places Fifth, Notches Highest-Ever Finish in Northeast-10 Presidents’ Cup

Ravens up three spots from a year ago

Northeast-10 Presidents' Cup release/full standings

RINDGE, N.H. (June 3, 2015) – Franklin Pierce University has finished fifth in the 2014-15 Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup, as announced Monday night by the Conference office at the league's year-end banquet. It is the institution's highest-ever finish in the year-long points race, eclipsing a tie for seventh during the 2011-12 campaign. The Ravens are up three spots from last year's eighth-place finish.

The Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the Northeast-10. The honor is awarded to the institution which compiles the most cumulative points, based on finishes in the regular-season standings, from all of its programs.

Franklin Pierce compiled 144 points in its first-ever top-five finish in the Presidents' Cup. The Ravens were 63.5 points behind Stonehill, which claimed its fourth title in the last six years, as well as its fifth overall. Between the Skyhawks and Ravens were Adelphi (189 points) in second, Assumption (149) in third and Merrimack (145) in fourth.

Franklin Pierce's biggest contributor was its baseball program, which earned 16 points by capturing its fourth straight Northeast Division title. Three other programs earned double-digit points for the Ravens: women's basketball, which collected 14 by finishing second in the Northeast Division; men's cross country, which garnered 13 by placing third at the Northeast-10 Championship; and women's soccer, which earned 10.5 points with a fifth-place finish. Also of note for Franklin Pierce were men's lacrosse, which picked up nine points with a program-best fourth-place finish, and women's golf, which earned three points for its second-place finish at the inaugural Northeast-10 Championship in the sport.
