Franklin Pierce Recognizes Fall 2010 Athletic Department Honor Roll

108 student-athletes post 3.30-or-higher semester GPA; eight perfect 4.0s

Athletic Department Honor Roll Franklin Pierce named 108 student-athletes to its Fall 2010 Athletic Department Honor Roll earlier this week.

RINDGE, N.H. (February 4, 2011) – The Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics is proud to announce that 108 of its student-athletes were recently named to the University's Fall 2010 Athletic Department Honor Roll. To be eligible for selection, each student-athlete needed to post a 3.30 grade-point average, or higher, during the fall semester. The 108 student-athletes were honored on Tuesday night at halftime of the men's basketball game against Stonehill.

On Tuesday night, the department's faculty athletic representative, Bill Costa, was on-hand to honor the student-athletes, each of which was presented with a certificate commemorating the honor. In addition to the 108 eligible athletes, 52% of the University's student-athletes achieved at least a 3.0-or-higher grade-point average in the fall of 2010. Eight student-athletes completed a perfect semester with a 4.0 grade-point average.

"I wish to congratulate all 108 student-athletes who have earned selection to the Athletic Department Honor Roll for the fall semester," said Bruce Kirsh, Vice President and Director of Athletics at Franklin Pierce. "Their academic success speaks not just to the quality of student-athletes our coaches are recruiting to our campus on the playing fields, but in the classroom as well. To have eight student-athletes achieve a 4.0 grade-point average last semester is incredible."
