RINDGE, N.H. (May 7, 2009) - Two Franklin Pierce student-athletes will represent the University at the NCAA's National Student-Athlete Development Conference later this month at the Walt Disney World Coronado Spring Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Franklin Pierce junior volleyball captain Katie Ristow (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian Senior HS) and sophomore women's soccer and rowing athlete Snezana Stojkovic (Vitojevci, Serbia) will be among 186 NCAA Division II student-athletes and over 600 student-athletes membership wide to participate in the annual conference May 24-27. It marks the second straight year Franklin Pierce has sent student-athlete representatives.

The development conference provides NCAA student-athletes with a forum to openly discuss issues that may affect them on their campuses and in their communities, while also providing them with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills. The National Student-Athlete Development Conference also promotes better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and communities. The four day conference consists of daily color team sessions, exercises, speakers and activities to help the student-athletes develop as individuals and as contributing members to society. The annual conference takes place in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., and is provided at no cost to all NCAA member institution student-athletes.

Ristow and Stojkovic will be among 300 female student-athletes from Divisions I, II and III scheduled to participate in this year's conference. Ristow is one of 48 volleyball student-athletes, while Stojkovic will be among 36 women's soccer and three rowing student-athletes and one of 59 international student-athletes (27 female).

Ristow completed her third season with the Franklin Pierce volleyball team last fall. She played in 34 of the Ravens 35 matches and averaged 1.90 kills and 2.13 digs per game to go with 26 service aces and 22 blocks.

Stojkovic appeared in six matches, starting one, for Franklin Pierce's Northeast-10 Conference regular season champion women's soccer team last fall. She dished one assist for her first collegiate point as the Ravens made their 17th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
