Schmutzler, Lindstrom Gather NE10 Volleyball Weekly Honors

MANSFIELD, Mass. (11/7/22) – In their final week of the regular season, a pair of Franklin Pierce volleyball players were named as recipients of weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference, per the official announcement from the league office. In a 2-0 week for the Ravens, junior libero Morgan Schmutzler (Lockport, Ill.) was named the conferences Libero of the Week, while freshman setter Annaka Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.) took home Rookie of the Week honors.

Schmutzler had an impressive defensive performance this past week for the Ravens, opening with the week with a 28-dig performance in a 3-1 victory over Saint Rose before recording another 16 digs to close out the week with a 3-0 sweep over Le Moyne. In total, Schmutzler recorded 44 digs while averaging an impressive 6.29 digs per set. Additionally, the Raven junior tallied four assists while matching her season single-match high in service aces (4) in their matchup with Le Moyne. It is the second time this season for Schmutzler receiving the Libero of the Week honor.

Annaka Lindstrom earns weekly honors for the first time in her collegiate career, tabbing Rookie of the Week following a standout performance with 83 total assists for the Ravens. Through the two matchups, the first-year setter averaged a whopping 11.86 assists per set, along with five kills, 10 digs and three service aces. Defensively, Lindstrom also snuck in four block assists at the net.

The two win week qualified the Ravens for the upcoming Northeast-10 Championship tournament, where they enter as the eighth-seed and will face-off with top-ranked American International College (AIC) on Thursday, November 10th for the quarterfinal round, with first serve at 6 p.m.
