INDIANAPOLIS (May 17, 2022) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's track & field program will be represented by two student-athletes at the NCAA Championships, as announced Tuesday evening by the NCAA. Freshman Nouhayla Errahili (Fes, Morocco) will represent the Ravens in the high jump at the national meet, while junior Nyjah Young-Bey (Montclair, N.J.) has qualified in the 400 meters.

The NCAA Championships will be hosted by Grand Valley State University and the West Michigan Sports Commission, and will run Thursday through Saturday, May 26-28, at GVSU Track & Field Stadium in Allendale, Mich. The selection process begins with the top 20 competitors in each individual event. Student-athletes are then added or removed, based on strength of the field, to reach a meet size of 377 participants per gender, with a maximum of 24 competitors allowed in any individual event.

For the two Ravens headed for the Wolverine State, it is their first career NCAA Championship selection. It is the 12th time in program history the Ravens have sent multiple student-athletes to a national championship meet. Further, since 2014, Franklin Pierce has now sent 41 athletes to NCAA Championship competition.

Young-Bey will be in action first at GVSU, with heats in the 400 meters scheduled for 5:55 p.m. on Thursday, May 26. She heads to nationals ranked 23rd in the country in the event, on the strength of a 55.23-second run at the NE10 Championships on May 6. The 400-meter final will follow on Saturday, May 28, at 3:15 p.m., for those who advance.

Meanwhile, Errahili will have to wait until Saturday, May 28, to compete, with the high jump scheduled for 2:05 p.m. She is tied for 11th in the nation, after clearing 1.73 meters at the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT on April 23.
