SMITHFIELD, R.I. (May 13, 2022) -- Senior Paola Brena (Queretaro, Mexico) and freshman Nouhayla Errahili (Fes, Morocco) were part of a three-way tie for second in the women's high jump to earn All-New England honors on Friday, as the Franklin Pierce University track & field program partook in the first day of competition at the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Bryant.

The women's high jump was held in the evening hours in the Ocean State, and the Franklin Pierce duo finished tied-second with Bridgewater State sophomore Serenity Sands, with the top eight spots picking up All-New England honors. All three cleared both 1.60 and 1.65 meters on their first attempt at each height, but then none of the three could get up and over 1.70 meters in three attempts, leaving them all as co-runners-up.

Earlier, sophomore Brogan Bonsaint (Somersworth, N.H.) opened the day for the Ravens, in the men's javelin. His third and final throw would be his best, at 55.70 meters, which was good enough for 12th place.

Next up was fellow sophomore Nathan Rinaldi (Bristol, Conn.), in the prelims of the men's 400 meters. Running in the second of four heats, he took sixth in his heat, with a run of 49.47 seconds, which put him 18th overall.

The women's 400 followed, with junior Nyjah Young-Bey (Montclair, N.J.) taking the track for the Ravens in the second of four heats. It was a lap of 57.78 seconds, which put her second in the heat, but was just 12th-fastest overall, as she missed out on a spot in the final by just three-tenths of a second.

The Ravens were scheduled in two other events on Friday, as Young-Bey was entered in the women's 200-meter dash, but did not start, and sophomore Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.) started, but did not finish, the 10k.

The NEICAAA Championships will wrap up on Saturday at Bryant.
