(2/2/23) – A grand total of fifteen Franklin Pierce student-athletes from across seven fall sports continued to set the standard in the classroom, and were recently selected to the Northeast-10 Conference’s Academic All-Conference team. The official announcement came from the league offices on Thursday (2/2/23) afternoon.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (12/8/22) – The United Soccer Coaches offices unveiled the 2022 Women’s Soccer All-America Team on Wednesday afternoon, naming junior defender Aino Martikainen (Jarvenpaa, Finland) and sophomore forward Jazmine Perez-Acosta (Cape Coral, Fla.) recipients of the national honor. Martikainen was selected as a First Team honoree, while Perez Acosta was tabbed to the Third Team.

(12/8/22) – With postseason awards making their way to the table, it was unveiled by United Soccer Coaches (USC) that four members of the Franklin Pierce women’s soccer program received All-East Region honors for their efforts this past season. Of the list, junior Aino Martikainen (Jarvenpaa, Finland) and sophomore Jasmine Perez-Acosta (Cape Coral, Fla.) were named to the All-Region First Team, while freshman Pinja Eklund (Klaukkala, Finland) and sophomore Salome Kerguillec (Landerneau, France) were named to the All-Region Second Team.

(12/6/22) – Following their stellar performance in both the regular and postseason, the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer coaching staff garnered the United Soccer Coaches East Region Staff of the Year honors. For the program, it is the first time the coaching staff has been honored with regional accolades from USC since the 2006 season.
Women’s Soccer’s Martikainen Named to D2CCA All-America

(November 30, 2022) -- Junior Aino Martikainen (Järvenpää, Finland) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team has earned All-America First Team honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA), as announced on Wednesday. It is the first career All-America selection for Martikainen.

Coming off of back-to-back overtime contests in the second and third rounds of the NCAA Championship, the No. 14 nationally ranked and East Region champion Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team could not get to the finish line against Atlantic Region champ and No. 2 West Chester in the national quarterfinal, hosted by Saint Rose.

We’re not entirely sure who ‘they’ are, but on Friday afternoon, ‘they’ may as well have been Hailey Goodman (Blackstone, Mass.). Without a goal to her name since Oct. 5, 2021, the junior put away the timeliest of headers, 2:22 into the first overtime of the East Region title game at Plumeri Sports Complex. It was all the defense needed.
Women’s Soccer Has Five Earn Academic All-District Honors from College Sports Communicators

(November 16, 2022) -- The Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team has had five players named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday. Sophomore Delaney Farinha (Preston, Conn.), sophomore Salome Kerguillec (Landerneau, France), junior Aino Martikainen (Järvenpää, Finland), senior Tess McKenzie (Warren, R.I.) and sophomore Makenzie Shean (Agawam, Mass.) were all honored, and will advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

(November 13, 2022) -- The left post at the south end of Sodexo Field was unnaturally kind to the No. 14 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team on Sunday afternoon, in the second round of the NCAA Championship East Regional. With a penalty-kick shootout tied at 2-2, the fourth round of shots decided things by the slimmest of margins. First, Franklin Pierce freshman Claudia Peirce (Carver, Mass.) rang the left post, but saw the ball spin into the net anyway. Next, Bridgeport sophomore Angelina LoFranco hit the same post, but could not replicate the same luck, and the ball stayed out.

RINDGE, N.H. (11/11/22) – It was a rainy afternoon at Sodexo Field for the second-seeded Franklin Pierce University Ravens, who were able to knock off the seventh-seeded Southern New Hampshire University Penman in the opening round of the NCAA Championship East Regional, winning by a 3-1 final score. The tournament triumph comes as the first for the Ravens since the 2018 campaign.

No. 14 Women’s Soccer Named NCAA East Regional Second Seed, Will Host First/Second Rounds

RINDGE, N.H. (November 7, 2022) -- After a two-season hiatus, the No. 14 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team returns to NCAA Championship play, as the Ravens were selected as the second seed in the East Regional, as announced on Monday night by the NCAA. Sodexo Field will serve as one of two East Region host sites for the first and second rounds, with competition set for Friday, Nov. 11 and Sunday, Nov. 13. The Ravens, who earned an at-large bid out of the Northeast-10 Conference, will open their NCAA Championship against seventh-seeded Southern New Hampshire at 6 p.m. on Friday.

RINDGE, N.H. (November 3, 2022) -- It was a high-flying Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinal on Thursday night at Sodexo Field, as the No. 14 nationally-ranked and second-seeded Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team and third-seeded Adelphi combined for 40 shots on the evening, including 25 shots on goal. Despite the barrage of shots, scoring was at a premium, as both sides struck in the waning moments of the first half, but then the game went scoreless for the next hour. In the end, it was the NE10 Player and Rookie of the Year, Adelphi freshman Madison Apicella, who sent her team through to the final, as her 104th-minute goal boosted the Panthers to a 2-1 (2 OT) victory.
