Women’s Soccer’s Tavares Signs Professional Deal with Madrid Club de Futbol

MADRID (August 13, 2019) – Why add one Raven, when you can add two? This appears to be the approach taken by the Madrid Club de Futbol Feminno (Madrid CFF). Already the home to back Marta Turmo ’19 (Barcelona, Spain), formerly of the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team, Madrid CFF has now announced the signing of forward Bruna Tavares ‘19 (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) as well. Madrid CFF competes in the Spanish Primera Division, which is the highest level of women’s soccer in the country, and among the most prestigious women’s leagues in the world.

MADRID (June 17, 2019) – Senior back Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team has signed a contract to play professional soccer with Madrid Club de Futbol Feminino (Madrid CFF), as announced late last week by the club. Madrid CFF competes in the Spanish Primera Division, which is the highest level of women’s soccer in the country, and among the most prestigious women’s leagues in the world.

RINDGE, N.H. (February 1, 2019) – Franklin Pierce University has had five student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the fall season, as announced on Friday afternoon by the Conference office. Senior midfielder Raegan Moulton (Baldwinville, Mass.) of the field hockey team, sophomore forward Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) and junior back Niklas Laudahn (Olfen, Germany) of the men’s soccer team, and junior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and senior back Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain) of the women’s soccer team, were all honored by the league. The selected Ravens were among 88 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the NE10.

(November 28, 2018) – A consensus All-America Third Team selection for senior back Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain) was among the highlights of the day for the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team on Wednesday, as both the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association and United Soccer Coaches announced their respective All-America honorees. In all, the Ravens had three players who earned All-America accolades from at least one of the organizations.

(November 27, 2018) -- Three players on the First Team highlighted four United Soccer Coaches All-East Region selections for the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team, as announced late Monday by the coaches’ association. Senior back Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain), senior midfielder Nathalia Maria da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and junior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil) all landed on the All-East Region First Team, while senior forward Bruna Tavares (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) earned a spot of the All-East Region Third Team.

No. 7 Women’s Soccer’s Run Comes to an End in 3-1 Loss to No. 23 LIU Post in NCAA Second Round

RINDGE, N.H. (November 11, 2018) – For the second straight year, it was the Pioneers of LIU Post who ended the season of the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team in the NCAA Championship East Regional. A year ago, it was a 2-0 victory for the Pioneers in the first round. On Sunday afternoon, it was a 3-1 win on the road for No. 23 nationally ranked and fifth-seeded LIU Post over No. 7 and top seed Franklin Pierce at Sodexo Field. Junior forward Julia Duffy struck twice in the victory for LIU Post. Senior midfielder Nathalia Maria da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored the lone goal for Franklin Pierce in what would be her collegiate finale.

(November 10, 2018) – After picking up the program’s first NCAA Championship victory since 2009 on Friday against Caldwell, the No. 7 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team returns to the field for second-round play on Sunday. The East Region’s top seed, the Ravens will host fifth-seeded LIU Post at 2 p.m. at Sodexo Field.

RINDGE, N.H. (November 8, 2018) – For the second year in a row, and the 21st time overall, the No. 7 Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team is headed into NCAA Championship play. The Ravens, who are the top seed in the East Region, are set to host the first and second rounds of the tournament on Friday, Nov. 9 and Sunday, Nov. 11. Franklin Pierce will open pursuit of its sixth national title at 2 p.m. on Friday against eighth-seeded Caldwell.

(November 8, 2018) – Junior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and senior back Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team, as announced on Thursday by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). As a result of the selection, both student-athletes advance to the Academic All-America ballot.
