Caroline Lounsbury

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (April 23, 2022) – Nine in the first and five more in the second allowed No. 15 nationally-ranked Pace to build a 14-2 halftime lead over the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team at Pace Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Ravens turned the tables and posted an 8-3 edge in the second half, but it was not nearly enough to dig out of the early hole, as the home-standing Setters went on to a 17-10 victory in the Northeast-10 Conference contest.

With the loss, the Ravens fall to 4-10 (4-8 NE10), while the Setters improve to 11-5 (8-3 NE10). The loss, combined with other results from the day around the NE10, officially eliminated Franklin Pierce from postseason contention.

Pace jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the game. The first three came from junior Jolie Urraro, who completed a hat trick at the five-minute mark. Sophomore Angelina Porcello made it 4-0, before senior Kaitlyn Daly (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) got the Ravens on the board with an unassisted tally just shy of 10 minutes into the contest.

Pace poured it on for the remainder of the first quarter. Sophomore Alexandra Quinn answered Daly's goal just 36 seconds later. Junior Sydney Juvelier scored twice late in the frame, Porcello added her second of the day, and sophomore Margaret Flocco contributed a pair of assists, as the Setters opened up a 9-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Senior Morgan Baxendale (Orchard Park, N.Y.) opened the second-quarter scoring, but senior Kayla Conway answered with back-to-back goals. Juvelier, senior Aleya Corretjer and Quinn rounded out the first-half scoring, and Pace took a 14-2 lead into the intermission.

Porcello scored her third goal of the game, just 43 seconds into the third, and then Corretjer set up Juvelier at the 4:23 mark, as Pace pushed the lead as high as 16-2, before Franklin Pierce finally began to find its footing. Daly finished a feed from senior Megyn Ayotte (Guilford, Vt.) just under four minutes later to start a five-goal run for the Ravens stretching into the fourth quarter. Graduate student Caroline Lounsbury (Franklin, Mass.) and Baxendale capped the third-quarter scoring, while Lounsbury and Daly opened things in the fourth.

After a free-position goal for Pace, junior Gabrielle Oswald (Nedrow, N.Y.), Lounsbury and Ayotte provided the final three goals of the day to create the 17-10 final.

For Franklin Pierce, Daly (3-1-4), Lounsbury (3-0-3) and Baxendale (2-1-3) each recorded at least three points on the afternoon. Senior Jacklyn Keane (Framingham, Mass.) caused a game-best five turnovers, while senior Madisyn Van Horn (Pulaski, N.Y.) caused four of her own and picked up three ground balls.

For Pace, Juvelier (4-0-4) and Porcello (3-1-4) did the heaviest lifting, while Urraro and Conway contributed hat tricks as well. Quinn led all players with eight draw controls, while senior Allison Brady caused three turnovers.

The Ravens travel to Garden City, N.Y., and Adelphi University to wrap up the season on Wednesday, April 27, at 5 p.m.
