RINDGE, N.H. (April 16, 2022) – For one final time in 2022, the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team hit Sodexo Field, for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup with the American International Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon. Though celebrating Senior Day, it was the graduate-student duo of Caroline Lounsbury (Franklin, Mass.) and Jenna Cimbron (Bristol, R.I.) who scored four times apiece in a commanding 21-4 win.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 4-8 (4-6 NE10) with three games remaining on the schedule, while AIC falls to 2-10 (0-9 NE10). Franklin Pierce honored its nine-player senior class prior to the start of the game.

The Ravens started out on fire, as they won the opening draw control and scored immediately after. Senior Megyn Ayotte (Guilford, Vt.) picked up possession, carried the ball all the way to the AIC cage and found the back of the net for an early 1-0 lead, just 12 seconds into the contest. Senior Kaitlyn Daly (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) added another in the opening minute on an assist from fellow senior Morgan Baxendale (Orchard Park, N.Y.), who went for five points on the day (3-2-5).

AIC got one back at the midpoint of the quarter, before a first break and an unassisted finish by junior Liz Day. Shortly thereafter, goals from Lounsbury and Ayotte, one on either side of a score by AIC freshman Antonella Mikolyuk, extended the lead to 4-2. Baxendale found the back of the net for a goal of her own with 2:52 left in the first, while Cimbron added one in the final minute to give Franklin Pierce a 6-2 lead at the end of the quarter.

The second quarter was just as dominant for the Ravens, who held AIC to a single goal, scored by senior Madi Bis just under two minutes in, off an assist by Day. Meanwhile, Franklin Pierce put home seven goals in the period, including a pair each from Lounsbury, Baxendale, and junior Gabrielle Oswald (Nedrow, N.Y.), who had a career-high five points in the game (2-3-5).

Possession and opportunities stayed with the Ravens in the third quarter, as they added five more goals in the stanza to grow the lead to 19-3.Cimbron, Ayotte, and Daly scored the first three goals while senior Savannah Ernst (American Fork, Utah) notched her first of the game with 6:32 remaining, on a beautiful behind-the-back finish on the right side of the crease.

The fourth quarter brought only three goals between the two teams. The first came from Ayotte at 13:41, while sophomore Kaitlyn Morris added one for the Yellow Jackets at 7:42. Cimbron scored one more for good measure, on another behind-the-back shot, this time moving across the front of the goal, to create the final, 21-4 margin.

Cimbron (4-2-6) and Lounsbury (4-2-6) each scored four times and finished with six points in their final game on Sodexo Field, while Baxendale (3-2-5), Oswald (2-3-5), Ernst (2-1-3) and Daly (2-0-2) all scored multiple goals as well.

Senior Megan Bacik (Huntington Station, N.Y.) stopped 8 of the 12 shots she faced in the Franklin Pierce crease to pick up the win (4-2). Senior Jessica Stone (2-9) got the nod for AIC and made 14 saves on 35 shots in the loss.

Next up for the Ravens is a road trip to Manchester, N.H., for an intrastate NE10 matchup against the Saint Anselm College Hawks. Opening draw control is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Grappone Stadium on Wednesday, April 20.
