Women’s Ice Hockey Sees 20 Collect NEWHA All-Academic Team Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. (July 20, 2022) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team has had 20 student-athletes named to the New England Women's Hockey Alliance All-Academic Team for the 2021-22 season, as announced earlier this month by the NEWHA.
The Ravens' selections were led by a trio of student-athletes who posted perfect, 4.0 grade-point averages during the last academic year: graduate student Katerina Dajia (Aurora, Ontario), senior Kiki Doucette (Bridgewater, Mass.) and senior Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.). The three were among a record 19 players league-wide who shared NEWHA Student-Athlete of the Year accolades by posting the highest GPAs in the alliance. For Ostrander, it is her second straight year among those sharing NEWHA Student-Athlete of the Year honors.
To be eligible for selection to the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have posted a GPA of at least 3.0 in both the fall and spring semesters.
A total of 122 NEWHA student-athletes earned All-Academic Team honors. Franklin Pierce's 20 honorees was third in the six-team alliance. The Ravens' All-Academic Team members -- which represent 87% of the team's roster -- were as follows:
