Cangiano Receives Softball Program's First Ever All-American Status From NFCA

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (5/24/23) – Franklin Pierce University softball junior Ashley Cangiano (North Attleboro, Mass.) has been selected as a Second-Team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American, per the official announcement by the organization offices on Wednesday evening.

Cangiano, as a catcher, becomes the first-ever player in Pierce Softball program history to earn All-American status, and did so after previously earning NFCA All-East Region First-Team recognition for the same role. Cangiano was also named the 2023 Northeast-10 Conference's Player of the Year, additionally becoming the first Raven Softball player to do so.

This season, Cangiano was the NE10 Conference's leader in most offensive categories, including batting average (.444), on-base percentage (.542) and slugging percentage (.854). From a national standpoint, both Cangiano's on-base percentage and slugging percenatage ranked 8th amongst all NCAA DII batters, while her batting average held fast at 24th across the board. Additionally, Cangiano also topped the NE10 conference leaderboards in total hits (64), runs (49), home runs (10) and runs batted in (54) throughout the season, and also became the program's all-time leader in career RBI (95), while also setting new program records in single season RBI, and single game RBI (8).
