Rowing V8+ Completes Season at New England Rowing Championships

Worcester, Mass. (4/30/22) – The Franklin Pierce University Rowing team concluded their spring season on Saturday at the New England Rowing Championship (NERC) in Worcester, Massachusetts. Additionally, the Regatta featured opponents Wellesley College, Wesleyan University, Fairfield College, Coast Guard Academy and Connecticut College.

The Ravens V8+ boat raced in the first of three heats on Lake Quinsigamond, finishing seventh with a race time of 7:46.129. In their final race of the season, the V8+ lineup featured (by boat seat) front four #1 Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.), #2 Maura Joseph (Holyoke, Mass.), #3 Bridget Fagan (Millis, Mass.) and #4 Tessa Berry (Andover, Mass.). The back four consisted of #5 Hannah LaGrassa (Winchendon, Mass.), #6 Taylor Abbott (Gloucester, Mass.), #7 Jada Fuentes (Lyme, Conn.) and #8 Megan Shawver (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.). Junior Ali Darling (Unionville, Conn.) served as the boat's coxswain.

The same boat found their way into the Championship finals, racing in the final 3 race, once again finishing seventh overall. However, the team fought through to finish with a time of 7:45.121, besting their time from the first heat. 

In addition to being the team's final regatta of the season, it was also marked as the final collegiate regatta for the teams three senior members: Taylor Abbott, Emme Ostrander and Bridget Fagan.
