Women Claim Fifth, Men Third Out of Twelve Competing Teams at the USM Huskey Invitational

GORHAM, Maine (1/29/23) - The majority of the Franklin Pierce University Track and Field Program competed at the University of Southern Maine (USM) Huskey Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The men took third placed out of 12 competing teams after scoring 81 points, while the women took fifth out of the same number with 58 points.

Out of all the individual performers for Pierce, sophomore Nouhayla Errahili (Fes, Morocco) stood out amongst the rest after reaching NCAA provisional standards at the Women's High Jump, clearing a 1.67 meter bar height for a 1st place finish in the event.  

PIERCE PLUS PERFORMERS - MEN

  • Junior Angel Gonzalez (North Andover, Mass.) took 3rd in the Men's 55-Meter Dash (6.71), additionally took 3rd in the Men's 200-Meter (23.97)
  • Junior Nathan Rinaldi (Bristol, Conn.) claimed 1st place in both the Men's 2000-Meter (23.59) and 400-Meter Dashes (51.24) respectively.
  • Junior Janvier Ntakirumana (Burlington, Vt.) placed 3rd in the Men's 800-Meter Run (2:03.45)
  • In the high jump, junior Stephen Harris (Billerica, Mass.) took 2nd overall (1.85m)
  • Junior thrower Salvatore Lando (Sterling, Mass.) took the win (1st)in the Men's Shot Put (14.6m)
  • Senior Armani Mette (Randolph, Mass.) took 2nd in the Men's Shot Put after throwing 14.3m

PIERCE PLUS PERFORMERS - WOMEN

  • Freshman Elizabeth Jones (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) took second place in the Women's Pole Vault (2.90m)
  • Sophomore Teresa Deasy (Smithtown, N.Y.) claimed third in the Women's Pole Vault (2.75m.)
  • Senior Victoria Van Houten (Wantage, N.J.) finished second-overall in the Women's Mile Run (5:41.89)
  • Sophomore Briahna Bouchard claimed 1st in the Women's 55-Meter Hurdles (9.0)
  • Sophomore Nouhayla Errahili set the standard in the high jump (1.67m)
  • Freshman Jennifer Kulik (Goffstown, N.H.) placed 1st in the Women's Triple Jump (10.02)

Overall, many impressive performances by the Ravens through the weekend. Coming up next, the Ravens will return to action at the NEICAAA Championships in Boston, Massachusetts beginning on February 2nd.
