Jones Sets School Record in 200, Men’s Track & Field Competes at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 23, 2022) -- With the Penn Relays on the horizon next week, the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team was in action on Saturday at MIT, for the Sean Collier Invitational. Senior Devin Jones (Manchester, N.H.) highlighted the day for the Ravens, with a school-record run in the 200-meter dash.

It was a time of 21.69 seconds for Jones, who won the event while setting the program record. He also took third in the 100 for his 11.06-second time. Jones was accompanied in the 200 by sophomore Stephen Harris (Billerica, Mass.), who took second for his 21.86-second time. Taking third place in the 400 was sophomore Nathan Rinaldi (Bristol, Conn.), who ran a time of 50.41 seconds. Jones and Harris are now third and fourth in the NE10 in the 200 meters, respectively.

Sophomore Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.) took second in the 1500 meters for his 3:58 performance. Also competing was fellow sophomore Ryan Outerbridge (Paget, Bermuda), who claimed fourth for his 4:00 time. Senior Cody Tallent (Bellows Falls, Vt.) competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase, and took second for his 9:38 time, which ranks first in the NE10.

The 4x100-meter relay team consisting of sophomore Angel Gonzalez (North Andover, Mass.), Harris, Jones and Rinaldi claimed second for their time of 42.45 seconds. Meanwhile, the 4x200-meter squad took second place for their time of 3:25. The lineup was Summa, sophomore Ryan Walker (Seabrook, N.H.), sophomore Evan McNeice (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Outerbridge.

Harris returned to competition to take third place in the high jump after clearing 1.86 meters. Junior Connor Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) took fifth place in the shot put after throwing a mark of 14.43 meters. He was accompanied by sophomore Sal Lando (Sterling, Mass.), who claimed seventh for his 13.93-meter mark. Lando also claimed fourth in the discus with a 41.06-meter throw. Sophomore Brogan Bonsaint (Somersworth, N.H.) threw the javelin 53.14 meters to claim fourth.

Next week, the Ravens will have select athletes in action at the Penn Relays on April 28-30, while the rest of the team heads to Southern Connecticut State on Saturday, for the Jim Barber and Jack Maloney Tri-Meet.
