Bio

David Walsh enters his fourth season as an assistant coach with the men's soccer program at Franklin Pierce University in 2022, serving as the teams' goalkeeping coach. 

Walsh aided Franklin Pierce to a 21-1-1 overall record in their championship winning season, where the birds ranked No. 4 nationally while winning the Northeast-10 titke. Along with the program's staff, Walsh collected the United Soccer Coaches East Region Staff of the Year accolades. 

During his first season with the Ravens, Walsh helped lead the program to the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Tournament and their first quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament since 2011, after accumulating a 15-4-2 mark on the year. He also saw the team come back into the United Soccer Coaches Division II National Rankings for the first time since 2017, ranking as high as No. 7. 

Before joining Franklin Pierce, Walsh spent the past nine seasons at former NJCAA powerhouse, Dean College. While at Dean, Walsh won the 2012 NJCAA Regional Championship. From 2015 to 2017, Walsh helped establish the program as a nationally ranked program in the NJCAA and USCAA. During that Period, Dean's players set numerous records, and also ranked in the top three across the nation at the USCAA level in goals-against average and shutouts.

Walsh brings over 30 years of experience as a player, coach and official with him to Rindge. He played four years for Barrington College as a goalkeeper and was named All-Conference, All-New England and USCAA All-America in his junior and senior years. He is ranked first in the school’s history for goals-against average and career shutouts.

Upon completion of his collegiate career, Walsh moved on to play professionally in the USL, UPL, LASA and in the Ireland Second Division. Walsh also served as an NCAA soccer official across all three divisions for nine years and is currently the Director of Goalkeeping for NEFC Southeast.

Walsh has both a bachelor's master's degree in American Studies. He currently holds a USSF C License and a Level 3 Goalkeeping License from the United Soccer Coaches.

Walsh resides in Rumford, R.I., with his wife Helen and son Connor.
