Offense Goes Quiet as Men's Lacrosse Trips Against Saint Michael's, 10-4

Colchester, VT (4/12/22) - The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse slipped in an NE10 conference matchup to Saint Michael's College on Tuesday afternoon. After falling behind early, the Ravens found some signs of life late in the contest, but could not overcome the large deficit, stumbling to the Purple Knights by a 10-4 final in Colchester, Vermont.

The Purple Knights appeared to be in control early on, outscoring the Ravens 5-0 in the first 21 minutes of action. It would not be until the 7:20 mark of the second quarter before graduate midfielder Josh Dorr (Brunswick, ME) broke the silence, notching his 12th goal of the season off a quick pass up top from the left side by Owen McCormack (Hampstead, NH).

Entering the second half trailing 7-1, Conor Rooney (Wilmington, MA) attempted to spark some energy with a quick goal just over a minute in, ripping a hard shot five-hole on the Saint Mike's netminder. However, the Purple Knights kept their foot on the gas and would score another two unanswered goals to continuously extend their lead, putting the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.

Dorr returned to the score sheet by setting up first year midfielder Jackson Hale (Kensington, N.H.) with a goal, his third of the season to bring the score to 9-3 at 10:28 of the quarter. As they had done all afternoon, the Purple Knights responded with a goal of their own 4:30 later, finalizing their 10-goal performance. Rooney would go on to tally another goal late in the game, concluding his fourth multi-goal performance of the season.

Freshman goalie Mike Masterpolo (Kingston, MA) (1-2) was kept busy in his third start in a row, facing 27 total shots while making 17 saves in the effort.

With just four games remaining in the regular season, men's lacrosse will remain on the road with a matchup this Saturday, April 16th at #4 Adelphi University, with first faceoff at 3PM.
