Dorr, Ell Lead Men's Lacrosse Past Post University 15-6

(Waterbury, Conn.) – Franklin Pierce University's men's lacrosse found themselves scoring quickly and often once again, claiming a non-conference road victory at Post University Friday afternoon by a final score of 15-6. With back-to-back victories to begin the 2022 campaign, the Ravens improve to 2-0 on the season, whereas Post University (a member of the CACC) falls to 1-3 in their respective season.

Post opened the scoring in this one, but the Ravens responded a few minutes later with senior attacker Stephen Ell (Peabody, Mass.) tallying his team leading sixth of the season, getting the Ravens on the board. Midfielder Josh Dorr (Brunswick, ME) used the space behind the goal to make a pass to the middle to Ell, who was able to quickly get a shot off. Dorr wasn't done just yet, as he received a pass up top and used the real estate in front of him to step in and send a howitzer past the Post netminder, putting the Ravens on top 2-1. From there, Franklin Pierce remain in control.

The second period saw a whole bunch of Franklin Pierce, and very little Post, with the Ravens scoring six total goals. In similar fashion to the first period, Ell scored the first goal of the period with the assist once again going to Dorr, less than a minute into the second. Owen McCormack (Hampstead, N.H.) extended the ravens lead to 5-2 at the 12:29 mark, after senior defender Kyle Fortier (Derry, N.H.) picked off an arrant pass and caught Post behind the play, turning it into a fast-break style play. Fortier's pass then found McCormack, who was left un-contested in front.  At 8:34, Dorr scored on a solo effort move, registering his fourth point of the day and making it 6-2. He would tally another one at the 2:50 mark, and head into the half with 5 points scored.

After the onslaught second period, the Ravens sought to stretch their lead with another multi-goal frame, scoring four in period number three. Nathaniel Girardin (Brunswick, ME) started and finished the scoring for the Ravens in the period, with Caleb Ikkela (Onset, Mass.) and Stephen Ell adding to the lead, meanwhile holding Post off of the scoreboard. Entering the fourth, Franklin Pierce held a commanding 13-4 lead over the Eagles. Sean Daly (Kingston, Mass.), who scored earlier in the contest, would join Owen McCormack in scoring the final pair of goals in the final period, locking in the victory for Franklin Pierce.

For the Ravens, five different players finished with multi-goal performances, while goaltender Nathan Taylor (Danville, N.H.) faced ten total shots, turning away four.

Men's Lacrosse will hit the road again for an upcoming morning matchup versus Felician University on Tuesday, 3/15 at 10 A.M. ET.
