Ravens men's golf

WATERTOWN, Conn. (October 10, 2022) -- With the entire field separated by just 85 shots, the Franklin Pierce University men's golf team is 10th following play on Monday at the Eagles Invitational, but will have the opportunity to make up ground in Tuesday's final round. The Ravens turned in a 36-hole score of 299-305--604 (+36), but are just 11 shots behind the top five in a crowded, 14-team field. In fact, Franklin Pierce is just 29 shots off the lead of Post, which is hosting the two-day event at the par-71, 6603-yard Watertown Golf Club.

Senior Michael Sosik (Fiskdale, Mass.) leads the way for the Ravens thus far, and is narrowly inside the top 10 on the 81-golfer field at 70-75--145 (+3), which is good for tied-10th. Freshman Seth Saffell (Castro Valley, Calif.) makes it two inside the top 25 for the Ravens, as he checks in at tied-23rd, with a 36-hole line of 78-71--149 (+7).

The other three Franklin Pierce golfers in action this week currently fall in the back half of the field with one round to play. Juniors Jake Berkio (Ashburnham, Mass.) and Thomas Hickey (Moultonborough, N.H.) are both tied-48th, with the former posting a 78-79--157 (+15), and the latter turning in a 73-84--157 (+15). Freshman Riley Richards (East Montpelier, Vt.) is tied-67th at 82-80--162 (+20).

The low four scores in each round added up to the 299-305--604 (+36) performance for the Ravens, who sit 10th, sandwiched between ninth-place Adelphi at 302-301--603 (+35) and 11th-place Saint Anselm at 301-305--606 (+38). At the top of the field, host Post leads the way at 283-292--575 (+7), seven shots clear of second-place Le Moyne, at 294-288--582 (+14). Third-place St. Thomas Aquinas is one shot farther back at 294-289--583 (+15).

Individually, Bentley senior Jared Walter and Post graduate student Bill Koch share the 36-hole lead, with Walter carding a 68-71--139 (-3) and Koch putting together a 67-72--139 (-3). Le Moyne senior Nicholas Bove is one shot back in third, at 68-72--140 (-2). In all, five players are at even par or better with 18 holes to play.
