Lambert Cracks Top-25, Women’s Cross Country 21st at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

Senior posts mile average just above six minutes

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (September 19, 2015) – Senior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) ran a 5k time of 18:53.27 on Saturday to place 21st at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, where she led the Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team to a 21st-place finish, out of 42 teams. Lambert was the only Raven in the top-100 of the 315-runner field.

Behind Lambert and her average mile time of 6:04.8, it was nearly two minutes back to the next Raven, as sophomore Natalie Davies (Ware, Mass.) checked in at 20:47.04 to place 116th. Davies was the second of three Ravens in the top half of the field, as sophomore Vanessa Monzon (Manchester, N.H.) finished 136th with a time of 20:59.52. Rounding out Franklin Pierce's scoring five on Saturday were freshman Sarah Hart (Glastonbury, Conn.) in 169th place (21:33.88) and senior Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) in 190th place (21:55.00).

It all added up to 567 points for Franklin Pierce, which was just 35 points behind host UMass Dartmouth (532 points) for the last top-20 spot. Up front, Brandeis (49) posted a 30-point win over second-place East Stroudsburg (79). Connecticut College (80), Keene State (103) and Assumption (238) rounded out the rest of the top-five, respectively.

Individually, East Stroudsburg junior Allison Decker ran a 17:40.82 to take home the crown. She posted a victory of nearly 20 seconds over New England College junior Abby Shafer, who posted a 17:59.69.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Sept. 26, when they travel to the Codfish Bowl in Boston.
