Ravens travel to Philadelphia next weekend

BRISTOL, R.I. (September 5, 2015) – Senior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) paced the team with an eighth-place finish on Saturday as part of a ninth-place showing by the Franklin Pierce University cross country team at the Roger Williams Invitational.

Lambert got around the 5k course in a time of 19:49.5, the only Raven to crack 20 minutes on the day. After Lambert, it was another 40 spots back to sophomore Natalie Davies (Ware, Mass.), who placed 48th with a time of 21:36.3. The next three Ravens finished in succession, in 63rd through 65th, to round out Franklin Pierce's scoring five on the day. Senior Doria Brown (Little Falls, N.J.) ran a 22:05.9, sophomore Vanessa Monzon (Manchester, N.H.) checked in at 22:10.3 and freshman Sarah Hart (Glastonbury, Conn.) stopped the clock at 22:10.8.

For the Ravens, it added up to 212 points and a ninth-place finish, though the team was less than 20 points behind sixth-place Endicott (195 points). Up front, Wellesley (29) took the team title by 11 points over second-place Brandeis (40). Salve Regina (138), Bridgewater State (160) and Emmanuel (169) rounded out the top five, in that order.

Individually, Wellesley took the top two spots en route to the victory, as senior Priyanka Fouda (19:10.6) edged junior Mary Keenan (19:10.9) at the line for the title. Brandeis claimed the next two spots, as freshman Emily Bryson (19:15.8) finished third and junior Maddie Dolins (19:21.8) claimed fourth. Bridgewater State senior Danielle Poto (19:33.2) rounded out the top five.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Sept. 12, when they travel to the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship, hosted by Philadelphia Univ.
