Women’s Cross Country Finishes 37th at New England Championships

Ravens host NE-10 Preview Meet next week

Thomas BOSTON (October 11, 2014) -- Junior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) ran a 5K time of 20:07.1 to place 190th and lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team at the NEICAAA Championships at Franklin Park. The Ravens finished with 1130 points to place 37th of 38 teams at the meet.

Lambert was the only Raven to place among the top 200 in the 262-runner field on Saturday. Freshman Natalie Davies placed 216th by running a 20:28.0, but the remaining five Franklin Pierce participants were bunched between 241st and 252nd. Junior Doria Brown (Little Falls, N.J.) ran a 21:09.9 to finish 241st and freshman Katelyn Thomas was 243rd with a 21:11.8, while junior Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) rounded out Franklin Pierce's scoring five by stopping the clock at 21:20.9 to finish 248th. Freshman Alexa Cassara and sophomore Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.) also competed for the Ravens at the NEICAAAs, as they finished 250th (21:23.4) and 252nd (21:29.8), respectively.

At the top of the meet, New Hampshire (61 points) cruised to a blowout victory, as the Wildcats won by more than 100 points over second-place Middlebury (162). Rounding out the top-five were MIT in third (171), Sacred Heart in fourth (217) and Providence in fifth (239).

Individually, Elinor Purrier of New Hampshire took home first-place honors (17:27.4), as she posted a seven-second victory over Lucy Young of Northeastern (17:34.8). The remainder of the top five was as follows: Natalie Schudrowitz of Brown in third (17:41.4), Alexa Pelletier of Univ. of Rhode Island in fourth (17:42.2) and Rachel Hilliard of Univ. of Massachusetts in fifth (17:44.8).

The Ravens are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18, when they host the Gates Farm Northeast-10 Preview Meet in Rindge.
