Three Break 20 Minutes, Women’s Cross Country Finishes 17th at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

All seven Ravens crack 22 minutes

Lindoe NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. (September 20, 2014) – Freshman Natalie Davies, junior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) and junior Doria Brown (Little Falls, N.J.) all posted 5K times under 20 minutes on Saturday for the Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. The Ravens finished 17th in the 38-team meet with 533 points.

Davies clocked a 19:40.94 to finish 60th, Lambert posted a 19:49.21 to place 73rd and Brown stopped the clock at 19:59.29 to finish 78th. In fact, all seven Ravens to run on Saturday broke 22 minutes in the 272-runner field. Freshman Alexa Cassara ran a 21:23.31 and junior Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) notched a 21:25.97 to round out Franklin Pierce's five scoring positions by placing 165th and 168th, respectively.

Freshman Katelyn Thomas in 172nd (21:28.67) and sophomore Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.) in 179th (21:33.05) rounded out Franklin Pierce's participation in the event.

East Stroudsburg (93 points) had two of the top three finishers and placed four in the top 30 on Saturday to claim the team title at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. New Paltz State (113), Connecticut College (143), Holy Cross (166) and Brandeis (180) rounded out the top five.

Individually, Allison Decker (17:50.09) of East Stroudsburg took home first-place honors, as she narrowly edged out Ashley Curran (17:52.70) of Connecticut College. Chelsea Conover (17:57.97) of East Stroudsburg was third, Maddie Dolins (18:03.10) of Brandeis took fourth and Gabriella Gaudreault (18:07.15) of Springfield finished fifth.

The Ravens are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa.
