Women’s Cross Country Places Fifth at Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup

Merrimack claims title

Davies RINDGE, N.H. (September 13, 2014) – Freshman Natalie Davies finished 17th on Saturday afternoon with a time of 18:05 to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team in the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup, the first of three on-campus meets for the Ravens this fall. Franklin Pierce finished fifth of nine teams at the meet.

The Ravens had two others finish in the top half of the 81-runner field on Saturday, as sophomore Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.) and junior Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) finished back-to-back in 35th (18:53) and 36th (18:54), respectively. Freshmen Alexa Cassara in 44th (19:12) and Katelyn Thomas in 48th (19:21) rounded out Franklin Pierce's five scoring spots in the meet.

Also running for the Ravens on Saturday were sophomore Tala Wilson (Orford, N.H.) and junior Kayla DiGiantommaso (Manchester, N.H.), who finished one after the other at 64th (20:47) and 65th (20:56).

Merrimack (45 points) had four runners finish in the top 10, and put all five of its scoring spots in the top 20 to lay claim to the team title at the Kirsh Cup. Adelphi (57), Southern New Hampshire (93) and Le Moyne (97) filled out second through fourth in front of the Ravens, who rounded out the top five.

Individually, Pascaline Jerotich (15:48) of American International took first-place honors on Saturday afternoon. The top five came from five different schools, as she was followed by Larissa Melendez of Adelphi, Jeanette Cudney of Le Moyne, Kristin Schmidt of Merrimack and Laura O'Hanlon of Southern New Hampshire.

The Ravens are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in North Dartmouth, Mass.
