Women's Cross Country Turns in Solid 4th Place Showing at Bruce Kirsh Cup

Doria Brown turns in second-straight career-best performance

RINDGE, N.H. (September 14, 2013) – The Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team turned in a solid fourth-place showing out of 10 teams with 119 points on Saturday morning at the Inaugural Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup in Rindge, N.H.

Merrimack won the team title with a score of 29 points, while Southern Connecticut State (78 points) and Saint Anselm (81 points) rounded out the top three teams in the field.

The Ravens for the second week in a row were led by sophomore Doria Brown (Little Falls, N.J.), who placed 13th out of 120 runners in a time of 22:54. It also marked the second time in as many weeks that Brown turned in a career-best performance, as she placed 15th at the Roger Williams race last Saturday.

Two other Ravens finished among the top-25 of the individual standings, including sophomore Danielle Koch (Coventry, Conn.) in a time of 23:11 to place 17th, while classmate Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) followed in 21st with a mark of 23:15.

The final duo of Ravens to count towards the team score were sophomore Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.), who placed 31st (24:05) and freshman Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.), who turned in a 52nd place showing (25:09).

Franklin Pierce returns to action next Saturday when the Ravens travel to compete in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational beginning at 10 a.m.
