Doria Brown Turns in Strong 15th Place Finish as Women's Cross Country Places 7th at Roger Williams

RESULTS

BRISTOL, R.I. (September 7, 2013) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s cross country team opened its 2013 season on Saturday by placing seventh out of 11 teams with a score of 171 points at the Roger Williams Invitational in Bristol, R.I. Connecticut College won the meet with a total of 36 points.

The Ravens were led by a strong performance from sophomore runner Doria Brown (Little Falls, N.J.), who placed a career-best 15th out of 131 competitors in a time of 21:18.68.

Classmate Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) was the next Raven to cross the finish line, as she dashed across in 23rd with a mark of 21:28.58. Danielle Koch (Coventry, Conn.) followed in 32nd with a time of 21:48.91, while rookie Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.) placed 53rd in her collegiate debut with a time of 22:35.01. Sophomore Hadley Doubleday (Plymouth, Mass.) was the fifth Franklin Pierce runner to count towards the team score as she finished 77th in a time of 23:41.70.

Franklin Pierce returns to action next Saturday when the Ravens host the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup on the Rindge campus beginning at 10 a.m.
