Volleyball Shoulders 3-0 Setback to Bentley University

WALTHAM, Mass. (9/27/22)- Franklin Pierce dropped a Northeast-10 Conference road volleyball match on Tuesday evening, falling in straight sets to Bentley University by a score of 3-0 at the Charles A. Dana Center

Set scores were 25-18, 25-17 and 25-20 as the Ravens dipped to 5-7 on the season following the loss, with the Falcons improving to 12-4 on their respective calendar.

Franklin Pierce managed to keep a slight lead over the Bentley early in the first frame, but saw the scales tilt on a 12-4 run by the Falcons. Through the opening set, the Ravens registered 11 total kills as a team, with four of them belonging to senior outside hitter Tessa Brandt (Foster, R.I.).

Entering the second set, Pierce started well holding a 7-4 lead early, but saw things unravel once again on a Falcon scoring run, who took 12 of the next 14 points. The second counter by Bentley proved costly on the Franklin Pierce end, as the longest scoring run for the Ravens in the second set was kept at two points.

Bentley would put the finishing touches on the match win in the third set.

As a team, the Ravens concluded the match with a .205 hitting percentage, and 31 total kills. Brandt continued to lead the way for the Ravens following the first set, registering a match best-tie 11 kills, as well as five digs. Freshman setter Annaka Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.) finished the evening leading both squads in assists, chalking up 24 in the effort.
