FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
(August 25, 2007) – The Franklin Pierce University
women’s volleyball team dropped its last two matches at the
Nova Southeastern Shark Classic on Saturday afternoon, falling to
Palm Beach Atlantic University by a 3-0 (30-12, 30-18, 30-18) score
in the first match before dropping another contest by a score of
3-0 (30-17, 30-19, 30-26) to Lynn University in the Ravens’
final match of the weekend.
Franklin Pierce had its best offensive showing of the weekend
against Lynn in the day’s second game, but the team fell to
the Fighting Knights, 3-0. The Ravens finished with 29 kills, as
junior co-captain Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone
Bridge), sophomore Caitlynn Parnell (Medina,
Texas/Medina) and redshirt freshman Michelle Koike
(San Francisco, Calif./Gonzaga University) each recorded
six kills. Junior co-captain Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo,
Calif./Camarillo) also had another solid game as the Raven
setter, recording an assist on 26 of the team’s 29 kills. For
the Fighting Knights, Camila Lins (Recife, Brazil) led the attack
with a game-high 18 kills and six service aces.
No individual statistics were available for the Ravens’
early match of the day against Palm Beach Atlantic, which the team
also lost by a score of 3-0.
Franklin Pierce (0-4, 0-0 NE-10) returns to the Northeast for its
next match, as the Ravens will welcome C.W. Post to the Franklin
Pierce Fieldhouse for the team’s 2007 home opener on Aug. 30
at 1 p.m. The Pioneers (3-1, 0-0 ECC) won three of four games over
the weekend at the Holy Family Tournament.
