Merrimack Shuts Out Franklin Pierce, 3-0
Warriors end Ravens five-match road winning streak
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (Oct. 12, 2004)
– The Franklin Pierce volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (30-17,
30-27, 30-14) loss to host Merrimack College tonight in
Northeast-10 competition, breaking a five-match road winning
streak. With the win, Merrimack extends its winning steak to four
matches. The Warriors are now 7-8 overall and 4-2 in league play,
while the Ravens drop to 7-10 overall and 4-7 in conference
competition.
Franklin Pierce received solid production from its two co-captains.
Junior defensive specialist Tara
Vece (Clinton, Conn./Morgan School) posted 18 digs, while
senior middle hitter Briana Bates
(Belmont, N.H./Endicott College) tallied nine kills and
three blocks. Sophomore Kathleen
Tryon (Tilton, N.H./Winnisquam) and freshman Bria Williams (Chino Valley, Ariz./Chino
Valley) led the offense for the Ravens, as they each
collected 12 assists.
Franklin Pierce (7-10, 4-7 NE-10) will return to action on
Thursday, when they return home for a Northeast-10 Conference match
versus Assumption College at 7 p.m. Merrimack (7-8, 4-2 NE-10) will
take the courts again on Saturday, as they travel to Le Moyne
College for a conference match beginning at noon.
