Harris, Jones Accrue Weekly NE10 Indoor Track & Field Honors

MANSFIELD, Mass. (12/13/22) – A representative from both the men's and women's indoor track and field team were named recipients of weekly awards from the Northeast-10 Conference. Per the official announcement, junior Stephen Harris (Billerica, Mass.) and freshman Elizabeth Jones (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) claimed Men's Track Athlete of the Week and Women's Field Rookie of the Week honors.

It is the first batch of weekly conference awards for Ravens' track and field, who have competed in two meets so far this season.

Harris finished first overall in the Men's 55-Meter Dash at this past weekend's University of Southern Maine Opener for Franklin Pierce, crossing the line with a 6.56 finishing time. Harris was also the top-finisher in the Men's 300-Meter, beating out the second place runner by over a second with a 35.10 race time. The men's team placed second overall at the one-day event.

Jones had a busy day in the field portion of the USM Opener, placing 3rd-overall in the Women's Shotput with a mark of 10.77 meters. The Raven freshman also placed third in two additional field events, hitting a 1.41 meter height in the Women's High Jump (1.41m), and a 2.55 meter bar in the Women's Pole Vault. Included in her performance on the field, The Raven freshman also ran as the lead-off leg of the top-finishing Sprint Medley Relay for Pierce, helping the women to a second-overall finish as a team.

Both teams will return to the University of Southern Maine following the first of the new year, and will compete on Saturday, January 7th.
