USTFCCCA All-Academic awards

RINDGE, N.H. (August 10, 2018) – Graduate student Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.) and senior Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field team, along with freshman Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) and graduate student Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) of the men’s team, have all earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as announced earlier this summer by the USTFCCCA. In addition, both the men’s and women’s squads were honored as All-Academic Teams by the USTFCCCA.

The USTFCCCA bestows All-Academic honors on those who compile a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or better and meet either the automatic or provisional NCAA Championships qualifying standards in an event during either the indoor or outdoor campaigns. To be honored as a team, a squad must carry at least a 3.0 GPA.

In all, Galewski earned a quartet of All-Region honors from the USTFCCCA during the 2017-18 academic year. At the completion of the outdoor season, Galewski was honored for her work in the 100-meter hurdles (14.59) and the heptathlon (4571 points). She also earned the accolade in the 60-meter hurdles (9.05) and the pentathlon (3250 points) in the indoor season.

Meanwhile, Quinn garnered a pair of All-Region honors during the year, to run her career total to five. Quinn earned All-Region platitudes in the weight throw (17.46m) for the indoor season and the hammer throw (52.79m) for the outdoor season.

On the men’s side, Arlabosse was a three-time All-Region selection in 2017-18, and qualified for the outdoor NCAA Championships in the 800 meters, where he finished 13th in the country. Arlabosse’s All-Region accolades came in the indoor 800 meters (1:52.33), the outdoor 800 meters (1:50.00) and the outdoor 4x400-meter relay (3:15.63).

For his part, Minors wrapped up the most-decorated career in the history of Ravens track & field this spring, with his sixth career All-America selection, as he finished fifth in the nation in the 800 meters at the outdoor NCAA Championships. Minors was also a three-time All-Region selection during the outdoor season, as he was honored in the 800 meters (1:48.99), the 1500 meters (3:52.22) and the 4x400-meter relay (3:15.63).

Both Ravens squads were honored at the team level as well, with the women carrying a 3.46 GPA and the men sporting a 3.21 GPA.
