Women’s Track & Field Competes at First Day of Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. (April 13, 2018) – Select members of the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team were in action on Friday, on the first day of the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College.

Friday at the Silfen Invitational saw the running of elite distance events, as well as the first day of the multi-events. For the women, that meant the first four events of the heptathlon, in which graduate student Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.) saw success. She was victorious in two of the four heptathlon events contested on the first day, as she took first in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.20) and the 200-meter dash (26.43).

In addition, a pair of Ravens notched top-10 finishes in the 10,000 meters on Friday. Sophomore Julia Cormier (Northwood, N.H.) took sixth, with a time of 40:12.30, while fellow sophomore Rebecca Zylak (Goffstown, N.H.) was next in seventh, with a mark of 40:28.76.

The Silfen Invitational wraps up on Saturday in New London.
