Mabbett Matches School High Jump Record for Women’s Track & Field at BU Valentine Invitational

BOSTON (February 9, 2018) – It was back to Boston yet again for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team on Friday, this time for Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational at the BU Track & Tennis Center. A school-record-matching high jump performance from sophomore Olivia Mabbett (Milford, N.H.) was among the highlights on the day for the Ravens, who visited Beantown for the fourth consecutive weekend.

Mabbett got up and over 1.60 meters to tie for 12th on Friday at BU. In addition to matching the school record in the event, the mark also tied her for 10th in both the Northeast-10 Conference and the East Region on the season.

Two other Ravens put together notable marks in field events on Saturday. Sophomore Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.) came up with a throw of 12.18 meters in the shot put to finish 11th, while senior Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) notched a heave of 16.00 meters to place 12th in the weight throw.

Meanwhile, out on the track, it was a 48th-place finish in the 5000 meters for freshman Marissa Farago (Salisbury, Mass.). Her time of 18:54.14 moved her up to 11th in the NE10 on the season.

The Ravens are back in action on Feb. 17-18, when they travel to the NE10 Championships, to be held at Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
