MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (April 9, 2017) – In the first true outdoor meet of the season, the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team posted three program-record performances on Sunday at the Panther Spring Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College. In all, the Ravens would collect 100 points on the day, which was good for a second-place finish in the four-team meet.

Each of the three program records came in an event win for the Ravens on Sunday. It was an impressive double for freshman Catherine Purves (Dalkeith, Scotland), who took first place in a pair of hurdles events, notching new program records in each. In the 100-meter hurdles, she turned in a time of 14.73 seconds to win. In the 400-meter hurdles, she was victorious with a time of 1:04.19.

The remaining school record and event win came out in the field, courtesy of the team's resident record-breaking machine, freshman Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.). She heaved the shot put 11.79 meters to place first. Comstock would also finish second in the discus (34.78m) and third in the javelin (34.60m) on the day.

Elsewhere, senior Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.) finished second in both the long jump (5.07m) and the triple jump (10.10m) at Middlebury.

The Ravens return to action on April 14-15, when they travel to the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College in New London, Conn.
