Women’s Track & Field’s Galewski, Purves Earn Northeast-10 Weekly Honors

RINDGE, N.H. (March 28, 2017) – Senior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Field Athlete of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon by the Conference office. In addition, freshman Catherine Purves (Dalkeith, Scotland) has been tabbed as NE10 Track Rookie of the Week.

With the Ravens in action on Saturday at the Wesleyan Spring Classic, Galewski picked up a win in the long jump, by posting a leap of 5.15 meters. In addition, she also added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 27.12 seconds.

For her part, Purves posted a pair of wins on the track at Wesleyan. She finished first in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 26.22 seconds, and was also victorious in the 60-meter hurdles, with a mark of 8.96 seconds. Purves' time in the 60-meter hurdles established a new program record.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, April 1, when they travel to the CGA Spring Invitational, hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
