ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (March 5, 2017) – Senior Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team competed on Sunday at the USA Track & Field Indoor Championships, held at the Albuquerque Convention Center, as she took part in the two-mile racewalk.

With the high altitude triggering problems with her asthma, Sunday quickly turned into a "grind it out" scenario for Lindoe, who began to be left behind by the elite field after the opening 1000 meters, but persevered through to the finish anyway. With one runner not starting in the seven-person event, Lindoe was left to finish sixth, with a two-mile time of 18:08.38. Still, the biggest accomplishment was just qualifying for the event.

"I am proud that she even qualified to compete at this level so young," said head coach Zach Emerson. "She lined up against past and future Olympians, not only getting a glimpse of what it takes to compete at the next level, but showing that she is not as far off as she once though. Her future in the sport remains bright."

The rest of the women's track & field team returns to action to open the outdoor season at the Wesleyan Spring Classic on Saturday, March 25, in Middletown, Conn.
